Hi there! I'm [livejournal.com profile] trobadora and I'll be your reccer for this month. As quite a few of you probably know, Utopia was my Doctor/Jack point of no return - that episode was when I fell, finally and irrevocably, for the pairing. Especially this scene:

And since it's mid-June and therefore almost exactly three years since Utopia first aired, I thought I'd rec some fic relating to that. :) here we go: fic! )

I hope you enjoy - and remember, if you'd like to offer up recs for one month, we'd love to have you. Just leave a comment to this post with your name and email. We hope you'll join in!

We're thrilled to announce that we've got 15 authors signed up and 7 art prompts claimed. If you're an author and interested, but didn't get to sign up in time, drop a note here if you'd be interested in pinch-hitting! Artists, we have another eight prompts not yet claimed, so if you're interested in creating, there's still time to sign up. Please make sure to leave us a name and email address so we can contact you!

In case you missed the first announcements, here's a quick summary!

Summer/Winter Holidays Round 2

Sign-ups are here - and the details are below. So far we have 15 authors and 7 art prompts claimed; we'd like to have as many artists as possible, and there's always a need for pinch hitters!

Writers have been asked to write at least 500 words of Doctor/Jack based on specific prompts, to be finished and submitted June 25 - if you're asked to pinch hit, you'd be assigned a prompt, and we'd work out a deadline based on the time remaining.

Artists! There are so many talented people out there - we'd really like to see what you can do! Similar idea: we're looking for up to 8 more artists interested in producing a work (vid, icons, banners, drawings, etc.) based on specific prompts, also to be finished and submitted June 25.

Interested? Leave your name and an email below - and tell us if you're interested in pinch hitting or art!

Please come play!

(And as an additional option, if this isn't quite your cup of tea, come be a monthly reccer - we need help to keep this going! Leave your name and an email - for details on what the monthly rec post entails, stop by this post. It's really very easy, and we'd love to have you! (And if you'd like to sign up for multiple months, that's awesome too. :D))

I cannot, cannot believe it's almost June. Gah. The GREAT thing about it, though, is that [livejournal.com profile] trobadora and I get to announce

Summer/Winter Holidays Round 2

For those of you who might not remember, last July we posted a new fic every other day, written to a prompt list that was kept secret until the month started. For that whole month, anyone in the comm could write to any prompt on the list - but we had fifteen bright, shiny, new fics to showcase just how awesome the outcome could be.

We'd like to do it again - only better.

So we're looking for up to 15 writers willing and excited to write at least 500 words of Doctor/Jack based on specific prompts, to be finished and submitted the third week of June.

AND! Artists! There are so many talented people out there - we'd really like to see what you can do! Similar idea: we're looking for up to 15 artists interested in producing a work (vid, icons, banners, drawings, etc.) based on specific prompts, to be finished and submitted the third week of June.

Interested? Leave your name and an email below - and tell us if you're interested in fic or art!

Not quite your cup of tea? Come be a monthly reccer - I'm still reading through the amazing stuff [livejournal.com profile] yamx put together, and we need help to keep this going! Leave your name and an email here - for details on what the monthly rec post entails, stop by this post. It's really very easy, and we'd love to have you! (ETA: If you'd like to sign up for multiple months, that's awesome too. :D)

Hello everyone!

[livejournal.com profile] wintercompanion has a new feature – monthly rec posts! On the 15th of each month, a different reccer will post five to ten Doctor/Jack recs. I'm [livejournal.com profile] yamx, and I have the honor of being the first. (A big 'thank you' to the mods for that!) If you're interested in reccing yourself, see the bottom of this post for details.

There are many fantastic Doctor/Jack stories out there; it was hard to narrow it down, so I decided on the following set of rules for my recs:

  • This is a Jack/Nine rec list. While I love Jack/Ten (and am beginning to love Jack/Eleven), Nine is my Doctor. Therefore, Jack/Nine is my personal favorite – and it's much harder to find than Jack/Ten (for obvious reasons, considering canon). In keeping with that theme, I'll rec nine fics! ;)

  • Only one story recced per author – if you love a story I've recced, you should check out the rest of the author's work. There are quite a few authors on the list where I had a hard time picking just one story.

  • I tried to include as many different genres as possible, and, where applicable, gave preference to what seemed to be the lesser-known/older stories.

Here are a few of my absolute cannot-miss fics: )

Remember: The March 2010 Jack/Doctor Fest ends on March 31 - there's tons of time and tons of prompts, so come and play!

And while we're waiting, it's time to put out a call to all the reccers out there!

Most months it gets a little quiet in here round about the 15th of the month - and while nature might abhor a vacuum, Jack Harkness abhors a party where nothing's happening. And if Jack's disappointed, the Doctor's going to want to know why. So we thought perhaps we'd experiment with a mid-month rec post - there's so much excellent Jack/Doctor out there, and I, for one, know I've barely managed the tip of the iceberg.

We don't want to make this complicated - we'd just like to see if there are folks who'd like to sign up for a month in which they'd rec somewhere between five and ten fanworks to the comm at large. If you'd be interested, please leave a comment with your name and an email address at which we can contact you.

To kick things off, have a few recs - some of my favorite fics from our inaugural fest back in 2007. )

I hope you enjoy - and enjoy our newest round of fic as it emerges from this month's Fest! If you'd like to offer up recs for one month, we'd love to have you - just leave a comment to this post with your name and email. We hope you'll join in - there's so many of us out there, I can't wait to find out who I've been missing all this time!
