We're about to post the June challenge, in order to get things back on trick. But don't panic if you haven't finished your submission for the Myths challenge! It opened late, and we're going to keep it open till the end of next weekend (for which I am rather selfishly glad, because the submissions have just been gorgeous).

Whether you're finishing up the last challenge or intrigued by the new, we can't wait to see what you'll post!

Myths
Rating: NC-17 overall
Spoilers: Torchwood: Exit Wounds
Warnings: Violence
Summary: There is a legend on a distant planet, telling of a brave hero who once saved the world from a terrible demon.
Note: Dedicated to [profile] nightrider101 , whose enthusism about this one is all the encouragement I need. Also for [personal profile] sarkywoman , who was very supportive during our chats and well deserves the scenes I added mainly for her.
Second Note: The next part will apperar in two days as the story isn't completely finished yet and I want to upload them somewhat regularly. This post also includes 'cover art' for the story. It's not a masterpiece and terribly cliché but was fun to do.

Anyways, shutting up now.

They may be powerful men, both of them, but how much of their power and influence resides not in their actual ability, but in their myth? When someone's been around as long as both of them have been, it becomes hard to say.

Time to give that some more thought, so here it is: The Myths Challenge!

The Doctor – a Time Lord, the Oncoming Storm, the Lonely God – is a legend on many worlds. Travelling through time, popping in everywhere from the very beginning to the end of the universe - how could he not be a myth? And I'm sure Jack is a legend in bed in many places too. :D (Even more so if you believe in That Thing He's Supposed to Become, which I prefer not to think about too much. *g*) Jack, unable to die, living longer than anything - how many legends are going to form around him as he lives on and on (and on)? What myths have our boys inspired? Are they gods or heroes? Demons? Tricksters?

What does it mean to live as long as they do, the way they do? What does it mean to be, in so many ways, larger than life – and still just a person with normal needs and desires and fears?

Not to mention that they'll both have encountered any number of mythological figures – modern myths as well as ancient ones – over the course of their long (loooooong) lives.

So for one month, your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to solve the following equation:

Doctor + Jack + myth = ?

Organisational note: As most of you will have noticed, we've fallen a bit behind on our schedule. To bring the start of our challenges back to when it's supposed to be, there will be some overlap between this challenge and the next: the next challenge will open at the beginning of the month – don't get confused when it opens before this one has closed. :-)

As a gentle reminder, please don't crosspost stories for this challenge elsewhere until the challenge closes about one month from now. And don't forget - leave a comment in THIS post and tell us what you think the next challenge should be!
