Title: Hijacked Regeneration (1/1)
Author: TARDIS_stowaway
Challenge:  Identity
Rating: Teen
Characters/Pairings: Eleven/Jack, Twelve (yes, Twelve)/Jack, Jack/surprise other recurring character
Spoilers:  Through "The End of Time"
Warnings: Non-explicit sex and lots of innuendo. Crack. Regeneration in the name of crack. The Jack/surprise pairing may require brain bleach for the more sensitive.
Summary: When Eleven regenerates in Jack’s arms, Jack finds out the reason the Doctor has avoided him during regenerations. There’s something different about the Twelfth Doctor, or should that be something a little too familiar?
Author’s Notes: Many thanks and virtual cookies to [livejournal.com profile] wendymr  for the fantastic, speedy beta service. Yes, I am killing Eleven before he has even two minutes onscreen. For that and much more, I am so, so sorry. Please assume that Eleven has had a long and mostly happy life. Jack, while he has not exactly lived on the slow path between the 21st century and the 94th, has experienced more than enough time to make the events of CoE no longer at the forefront of his mind.

Author's Notes: I confess that I didn't realize until this was done that it would work for the "identity" challenge here at [livejournal.com profile] wintercompanion, but I think it fits well anyway! Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] fuzzyboo03 for the beta and [livejournal.com profile] kivrin for encouragement. SPOILERS for "Waters of Mars," both halves of "The End of Time," and obliquely for "Children of Earth."

Year's over. Game over. And our heroes are left definitely not where they were. Jack, after the events of Children of Earth, is somewhere out there, trying to find God knows what. Maybe even himself. And the Doctor, after The End of Time, is literally a new man.

New year, new game, new start. Who are these two, stripped of the roles we've been used to? Who are they, with Torchwood in ruins and all the old companions left behind? Is the past really over, or must they come back to that? Back to each other, inevitably? Who are they really, when all is said and done, when you strip away the outer trappings? Take away the Doctor's suit, take away Jack's greatcoat, strip them of friends and family and send them out there, raw and new. Who are they, at the very core? Jack certainly is still trying to figure that out. And who knows what kind of a man Eleven will turn out to be?

Join us for a new challenge and take a look at what makes these two them: Welcome to the Identity Challenge!

As a gentle reminder, please don't crosspost stories for this challenge elsewhere until the challenge closes about one month from now. And don't forget - leave a comment in THIS post and tell us what you think the next challenge should be!
