Summary: Eleven waits for Jack to revive from being killed.

Author's notes: When I first heard what the challenge was going to be I thought of how many times Jack has been killed. I so wanted him and Eleven to meet in canon, but at least I can make it happen this way.

Life has a way of being nasty sometimes.

It's not easy to take. It's not easy to watch someone you love take a lump, whether it's literal or figurative.

Maybe you take it for them. Maybe you recognize it's something in which you're powerless to intervene. Maybe it's something you know you can't let anyone shoulder for you.

Regardless, when life hurts, two people have to navigate a way around it, and it's never simple. When those people are an immortal sometimes con-man and a lone Time Lord, it's even more complicated.

This month, we're asking you to dish out the whump - and then tell us what happens after.

As a gentle reminder, please don't crosspost stories for this challenge elsewhere until the challenge closes about two months from now. And don't forget - leave a comment in THIS post and tell us what you think the next challenge should be, so we can use your suggestions for our next regular challenge poll!
