Life has a way of being nasty sometimes.

It's not easy to take. It's not easy to watch someone you love take a lump, whether it's literal or figurative.

Maybe you take it for them. Maybe you recognize it's something in which you're powerless to intervene. Maybe it's something you know you can't let anyone shoulder for you.

Regardless, when life hurts, two people have to navigate a way around it, and it's never simple. When those people are an immortal sometimes con-man and a lone Time Lord, it's even more complicated.
