We're off! Given Jack and the Doctor, what better way to inaugurate Winter Companions as a challenge community than by tossing them into situations where they have to push the envelope. Stretch the rules. Test the boundaries....

Especially since they're so good at it already. So, here goes:

The "Crossing the Lines" Challenge!

There are all kinds of lines. Timelines, of course. Personal boundaries. Lines of communication. Society's rules and regulations. The line between life and death. The line between good and evil. The lines between universes. The line between acceptable guest behavior and sticking one's fingers in the jam jar. Lines can connect, or divide, or just end up snarled.

We all know about lines. This month, your challenge is to take the Doctor and Jack and have them do what they do best - cross the line.

A few thoughts to get you started:

  • What if Jack or the Doctor cross each other's path nonlinearly - what if Jack-now meets up with Nine-then accidentally, or Ten-later runs into Jack just before he gets back to the Hub?
  • Or: Jack's forgiving the Doctor for a whole damn lot. How far can the Doctor go before he crosses the line?
  • Or: What would it take to make an immortal die? How do you cross the line between life and death?
  • Or: How about crossing over into another universe? Different universes colliding?

So many lines, and so many possibilities. The challenge closes one month from today; posting guidelines can be found here. Interpret the prompt as you like, take any of our suggestions or not - anything's good so long as Jack or the Doctor - or both of them - end up crossing the line. What are you waiting for?

(And don't forget - leave a comment in THIS post and tell us what you think the next challenge should be!)
