Another planet saved, another civilisation helped. So they were going to have a break, the pair of them.
“The Golden Nugget on Vegas Two?” the Doctor suggested, only to be met with an extremely guilty look from his Captain.
“Can’t be seen there. In any time,” Jack replied.
The Doctor rolled his eyes, and sighed. “The Flamingo Hotel on Vegas Five?”
“I think I’m banned there, too, at least in the 40th century. Annoyed the hell out of the house, using my conman’s eye, figuring out how they let the tables be played.”
“Caesar’s Palace on Vegas Seven?”
“Never even been there, Doctor.”
“Shall we, Captain?”
“Oh, yeah.”
And so, off they went, to see if Fortuna would smile upon them.

Jack was in a Vegas Galaxy casino, playing a dice game with the Doctor. Not something he had ever imagined doing, and he’d had a very long time to imagine an awful lot. They’d both relegated their extra senses to the backs of their minds, and were playing the games just like everyone else.
“Luck be a lady tonight,” Jack hummed, and blew on the dice he held in his hands.
“You do know that has absolutely no effect whatsoever, Jack.”
“Why do we still do it, then, even in my time?”
“Ingrained human habit.”
“Answer for everything, haven’t you?” Jack said, as he let the dice go. “Lot to be said for ingrained human habit, Doctor.”
They rolled along the baize, landing on a pair of sixes.
Jack grinned. “And a lot to be said for my blo --“
“Yes, Captain,“ the Doctor said a little too loudly, making the other gamblers stare at them.
Someone was protesting too much. And, oh, Jack had him, now. “Stick with me baby, I'm the fellow you came in with,” he whispered into the Doctor’s ear.
“Like I’d leave you alone in this place, Captain.”
“TARDIS, right now,” Jack said.
“What about your winnings? Don’t you want to collect them?” the Doctor asked.
“I’d rather collect you, Doctor,” Jack leered.
“Stop it.”
“You know that has absolutely no effect whatsoever, Doctor. You’re getting lucky, deal with it.”
“Insatiable, you.”
“Yep.”

The Doctor and Jack rushed back to the TARDIS, and had some very pleasant sex in the control room.
Then they sang every single word of Luck Be A Lady Tonight.
It was rather tuneless, but they really didn’t care.

Lovely! It's refreshing to read a story where they actually get a night together where the Universe doesn't end. Thanks for sharing!

It doesn't need to be angst all the time, no.

(Also, the very end made me think of the scene in Shortbus when they sing the Star-Spangled Banner, which just made it even better.)

The interaction was so sweet, and funny, and Jack being banned from about every casino in the galaxy? Priceless!
