Jack struggled to free himself from the thick leather straps holding him tightly to the cold metal table by his wrists and ankles. Glancing up, he saw the Doctor and two other men who he recognised as his former bosses standing looking down at him, "You say that he can't be killed?" The one he knew as Zurak queried the time lord.

"Correct," he replied, "watch." And there was a searing pain through his heart just before everything went black.

He came to with a gasp, hungry for oxygen and saw that only Zurak and the Gallifreyan remained, Duky must have gone to torture another poor sod, he thought grimly, "Doctor," he gasped, struggling for air as Zurak fastened another strap tight around his throat, "why?"

The time lord's face twisted into an evil sneer and the words, 'Because you're wrong Jack' bounced around inside his skull. The world started to twist and change and faces that haunted his dreams swam in front of his eyes with promises of pain.

"Doctor!" He yelled as fog descended.

Jack shot up in bed screaming and the Doctor hastily tried to grasp at his flailing arms and pull him into a tight hug, "Doctor!" The immortal sobbed into his lover's shoulder desperately.

"Sshh," he soothed him, rubbing circles on his back, "you have to calm down Jack or you'll make yourself sick again."

"Sick?"

It immediately became quite clear to the Doctor that Jack couldn't remember the past few days, "Yes Jack, don't you remember? We went to Refad and then you caught a stomach bug then hid it and tried to keep away from me in case it was contagious; you've been quite feverish this past while though so you probably don't remember."

"I had a dream and... and, you gave me up to the time agency and then you let them t... torture me ands then there were all these THINGS in the air and, and..." He trailed off and let out a sob.

"Hey, sshh, don't cry, it wasn't real, I would never betray you, I love you.

"Ditto." Came the tearful reply and the Doctor gave him a gentle smile and pulled him back down onto the bed again.
