CHALLENGE: Pride
After last month's fun, time to tackle some things again that strike at the heart of our boys' character:
We proudly announce the Pride Challenge!
Let me quote

Or, of course, you could go an entirely different way and send our heroes to a Pride Parade. :D As usual, anything goes.
As a gentle reminder, please don't crosspost stories for this challenge elsewhere until the challenge closes about one month from now. And don't forget - leave a comment in THIS post and tell us what you think the next challenge should be!

I was rewatching VotD not too long ago, and I *finally* made out what the Doctor shouts when he kicks the broken teleport: "I can do anything!" So...Jack and the Doctor both know they have abilities that outstrip those of most everyone around them. But that knowledge often leads to overconfidence. How many times have they both been so certain they can handle a situation, only to find things spiraling even further out of control? Or made choices for others because they believe they know best, only to watch that person's trust fall apart? How might pride come between them? (I'm in angst mode right now, but I'm certain there's a lighter angle to this one, too--games of one-upsmanship?)

Actually, while I'm taking up space in the comments thread, I was thinking it might be nice to have a repeat of the "Amnesty" challenge at some point. I had what I consider to be a decent first glimmering of a fic idea for the "Domesticity" challenge, but it got nuked by RL and other things. It would be fun to have an incentive to dust it off and write it up at some point in the future . . .
(Not that I couldn't just, like, *write* the thing, independent of a challenge, but I find that challenges get me expecially motivated . . .)

FWIW, expect a Drunk!Flowers!Doc in the middle of the proverbial Bar Brawl and an Unexpected Guest Appearance. ;)

Come to think of it, I started something for the Domesticity Challenge as well. (The Next Doctor-related, actually.) Maybe I'll try and finish that in December if nothing more promising comes along by then. ;)
