*****************************

The Doctor sat on the cool sand under the shade of a Vixalian Palm, Jack beside him, leaning back against the trunk, his eyes fixed on Martha, who was swimming happily in the violet ocean. He could feel tension in Jack’s muscles, which intensified to a violent shudder when Martha stopped swimming to tread water.

“Come on in you two, have a swim, the water is lovely.” She yelled.

“Do you want to?” The Doctor asked.

“God no. I have a headache, I’m heading back to the TARDIS. You two enjoy your day, I’ll see you later,” Jack said, standing up and striding along the beach to where the TARDIS stood on a rocky outcrop.

Martha watched as the Doctor stripped down to his shorts and swam out to join her.

“What was that about?”

“He went back to the TARDIS, he had a headache.” The Doctor knew that Jack had been lying, but that was none of Martha’s business, and he would have it out with Jack later.

Jack was in the bedroom when they got back to the TARDIS that evening, curled on the bed reading a book.

“Are you ready to tell me what was really wrong this afternoon now?” The Doctor asked, sitting on the edge of the bed and gently lifting the book from Jack’s hands setting it aside.

Jack kept his eyes on his now empty hands as he folded them in his lap.

“Jack?”

“I can’t, you’ll think it’s stupid.”

“No I won’t, I promise.”

“You will, you’ll think it’s stupid and pathetic.”

“Jack, I could never think you were either of those things. Tell me, please.”

“It’s the water, it scares the hell out of me, has done for as long as I can remember.” Jack whispered, red suffusing his face.

“Do you know why?”

“No, I have no idea.”

“Jack, a lot of people are scared of water, it’s nothing to be ashamed of.”

“I’m not supposed to be sacred of anything. At the agency, we were conditioned, so that we were fearless, we had to be, but somehow, this slipped through. No matter what they did, they couldn’t break that phobia. They…. Uh…..they made it worse if anything.”

“How?”

Jack shook his head, unwilling to answer.

“Jack, please.”

“In the end, they decided on shock therapy, dragged me down into the basement level of the academy, and threw me into the pool.”

“What happened?”

“I freaked out, nearly drowned. It took four of them to get me out of the water, and they had to keep me sedated for four days.”

“Why did they keep you on then?”

“Because it was only one phobia, and something that could be fairly easily avoided too. The rest of my scores were the highest in over 100 years, so they decided they could let it go.”

“Do you want me to help you get over it?”

“The phobia?”

“Yes, do you want me to help?”

“How?”

“Come back to the beach with me. A moonlit walk, and a dip in the ocean. I guarantee you Jack, by the time I finish with you, fear of the water will be that last thing on your mind.”

“I don’t know.”

“Come on Jack, trust me. If nothing else, we get a romantic walk out of it.” The Doctor said, standing up again, and holding out one hand to Jack. The younger man sat there staring at the proffered hand for a moment, then up into the Doctor’s face. He got a reassuring smile off the Time Lord, and hesitantly reached out to take the hand.

“That’s good, my brave, beautiful Jack.” The Doctor smiled, pulling him into a light kiss, stroking his hair.

“Right, so, I don’t have any swim trunks or anything.”

The Doctor gave his lover a truly filthy grin.

“Do you really think you need them?”

Jack gave the Doctor a startled laugh, letting the Doctor pull him from the room.

They walked hand in hand along the beach, just out of reach of the surf. The sand shone silver in the bright moonlight, and the trees rustled cheerfully in the light breeze.

“Come on, step one, get your feet wet.” The Doctor said, tugging Jack closer to the surf. Jack resisted for a moment, and the Doctor leaned in and kissed Jack teasingly.

“I’ll make it worth you while.” He crooned in a sing song voice.

“Oh yes, how’s that then?” Jack asked with a smirk.

“One kiss per step.” The Doctor smirked right back.

“Like this?” Jack asked, taking a small step closer to the damp sand.

“Like that.” The Doctor agreed, giving Jack a small, light kiss, before moving a step back. Jack took a slightly bigger step, letting the cool surf wash around his toes. He tensed at the contact of the water, but when he received a deeper kiss from the Doctor he grinned, and relaxed a bit.

“We should strip before we go any further,” the Doctor said, starting to pull on Jack’s t-shirt.

Jack laughed, having no objection to getting naked with the Doctor, and stepped back onto the dry sand, yanking his shirt off and throwing it out of reach of the waves before skinning out of his jeans. The Doctor watched, always loving the sight of Jack stripping, then when Jack was naked in front of him, he yanked his own clothes off, throwing them down with Jack’s.

“Come on.” The Doctor grabbed Jack’s hand, and pulled him back to where they had been before, the waves washing around their calves.

“How far do you intend going?” Jack asked nervously, his eyes skittering over the expanse of the ocean.

“Not far, maybe just over waist high, for now. The same scale applys until we get there, a kiss per step.”

“You won’t let go?”

“Never.” The Doctor promised with intensity.

He kept hold of Jack’s hands as he led him slowly to the required depth, rewarding each step taken with a kiss. Jack’s body was thrumming with tension when the Doctor stopped moving and he had the Doctor’s hands in a death grip.

“Relax Jack, you need to relax.” He whispered, pulling the tense body against his own and stroking one hand up and down his spine as the waves gently buffeted them.

“Can’t.” Jack choked, burying his face in the Doctor’s bare shoulder.

“Yes you can sweetheart, yes you can. You’ve been so brave to get this far, you can do it.” The Doctor kissed the warm skin of Jack’s shoulder, soothingly stroking his back until he felt some of the tension bleed away.

“I have you, I’m not letting you go.” He promised, tangling his fingers in the dark hair and pulling Jack’s head up so he could look him in the eye.

“Trust me, Jack.”

“Always.” Jack’s eyes held the Doctor’s, and the last of the tension ebbed, he was safe in the Doctor’s arms, the time lord would never leave him again, and would never let anything hurt him if he could help it.

The Doctor rewarded that faith by pulling Jack into a deep, devouring kiss, taking possesion of the younger man, body and soul.

“Gods, I love you.” Jack panted when the Doctor let him up for air.

“And I love you,” the Doctor said, running wet fingertips over Jack’s cheek.

“So, now we’re here, what now?” Jack asked, and was met by another dirty grin, and a hand sliding to cup his ass.

“Use your imagination.” The Doctor crooned in his ear.

“I have a very vivid imagination.”

“And what is your imagination telling you?” The Doctor asked, one strong finger moving to stroke his entrance, making Jack gasp and his pupils dilate.

“That our love making is about to get creative?”

“Smart boy.” The Doctor grinned, the finger pressing in, eased by the water.

Jack gave him a gutteral growl, and pressed back, taking the finger deeper. The Doctor smiled, stroking the finger in and out as Jack leaned into him. Jack growled again as a second finger joined the first, stretching him a little more. The Doctor took his time preparing Jack, stretching him thoroughly and occasionaly brushing a fingertip over the sensitive little bundle of nerves inside him.

Eventually Jack was whimpering  with need, pleading for more when the Doctor decided that he had forgotten he was standing waist deep in an alien ocean, and let go of him to move behind him.

“Doctor?” Jack’s voice carried a faint edge of panic under the need.

“Hush, I’m right here, not going anywhere.” The Doctor promised him, keeping one hand in contact with Jack as he stepped around behind him, carressing the muscles on the broad chest.

“Are you ready for me, my Jack?”

“Yes, I’m ready. In me, please, in me now.” Jack begged.

The Doctor sheathed himself in one smooth thrust, burying himself deeply. Jack cried out, pushing back to welcome the intruder.

“OK?” The Doctor asked.

“Yessss.” Jack hissed, his head falling back to rest on the Doctor’s shoulder.

The Doctor turned them so that his back was to the waves, and Jack was facing the beach, and the Doctor allowed the buffeting of the waves to control his thrusts.

The irregular thrusts drove Jack insane, no two to the same depth, no rhythm to them. By the time the Doctor reached around to grasp Jack’s cock, the younger man was diamond hard, and a single stroke sent him careening over the edge. He screamed him completion, muscled clamping down hard on the presence inside him, he was barely aware of the warm flood inside him as the Doctor followed him over that edge.

When his head cleared, Jack found himself floating on the surface of the ocean, his head pillowed on the Doctor’s shoulder, the Time Lord’s strong arms wrapped firmly around his chest.

“You OK?” The Doctor asked.

Jack hummed happily and gave his lover a goofy grin, making the Doctor kiss his temple.

“Come on, let’s get back to the TARDIS, have a nice hot shower, and resume this in bed.” The Doctor suggested.

Jack hummed again, then frowned down at his supine body.

“And how do I get my feet back down?”

“Pretend you’re in zero g.” The Doctor laughed, and felt heat flush through Jack’s skin under his hands.

“Are you blushing? Have you had sex in zero g?” The Doctor grinned as Jack curled his legs to get them back under him.

“Maybe, once, or twice.” Jack got his feet back under him and stood up.

“I think we’ll have to explore that, at some point.” The Doctor laughed, keeping a firm grip on Jack’s hand as they returned to the shore.

“Yeah,” Jack said, sounding thoughtful.

“Jack?”

“Do you think……” Jack shifted his feet in the dry sand.

“What?”

“Would you be able to teach me to swim?” Jack blurted.

“ I should think so. I could probably even persuade the TARDIS to make us our own pool, so that there would be no interruptions from Martha.”

“That would be nice,” Jack said, shivering a little as the breeze blew over his damp skin before he pulled his clothes on.

“So you think that you’re OK with the water now?”

“As long as you’re with me, I feel safe.” Jack admitted to his lover.

“Oh Jack, I want to keep you safe so much.” The Doctor sighed.

“You do Doctor, you do.” Jack told him, taking the older man’s hand in his.

“Hardly.” The Doctor snorted.

“You do, because you’re very presence makes me less likely to take stupid risks, because I don’t like seeing that look on your face, the one where you wonder if this will be the time I don’t come back.” Jack told him, stroking his hand through untidy brown hair.

“You keep me safe by making me want to live, by helping me get over my fears, you keep me safe by loving me.” Jack insisted, then he snorted.

“You must think I sound like such a sap.”

“No, I think you sound like the man I want to spend the rest of my lives with.” The Doctor whispered, his eyes bright.

“Sounds good to me.” Jack grinned, tugging on the Doctors hand.

“Now, I believe you said something about a shower and a bed?”

The Doctor laughed, and the two of them ran back to the TARDIS, hand in hand and laughing.  The door clicked shut, and the only sounds remaining were the rush of the waves and the rustling of the trees in the breeze.
