CHALLENGE: Jack in Charge

You all are awesome.  We asked, you answered.  We prompted, you voted.  We think we've got a fun - and different - year planned, and it all kicks off with this month's challenge.

Jack in Charge

This month, let Jack take the reins.  Is he running the con?  Leading the charge?  Cracking the whip?

As [livejournal.com profile] trobadora points out, "the Doctor is a bit of a control freak, so it always means something when he lets someone else be in charge, or acknowledges someone else's right to be in charge in any given situation."  We're asking you:  what does it mean in the context of Jack and the Doctor?

The possibilities are huge.  Is the Doctor coaxed into letting Jack lead the way?  Forced into it?  Is control ceded generously, or grudgingly?  Whether it's BDSM (or more vanilla control play) or taking over from a Doctor who's incapacitated, tell us about Jack's turn at the helm!

As a gentle reminder, please don't crosspost stories for this challenge elsewhere until the challenge closes about one month from now.

Also, don't forget - leave a comment in THIS post and tell us what you think the next challenge should be.  We're going to keep voting on challenge options, so keep an eye out for the polls as well as for additional announcements about comm activities!

UPDATE:  Just to clarify, the Jack in Charge challenge closes at the END of March - so you have two whole months!

Does anybody mind if I drop a meta discussion down here? I know it's not technically the place for it, but I'm not sure there is technically a place for it, and I want to discuss. Not trying to pass judgment on the prompt or anything--I can't wait to see what people do with it. But it reminded me of a conclusion I came to after watching Torchwood, and now I'm curious as to whether I'm the only one who thinks that Jack's leadership skills are complete rubbish. I mean, holy heck, his team shot him in the S1 finale so they could open the Rift. Not to mention that their collective track record includes becoming a serial killer, smuggling a cyberman into the basement, constantly poking their noses into forbidden things, sneaking artifacts out of the hub, sneaking telepathic aliens into the hub... I can't decide if it's a personnel problem, a discipline problem, unrealistic expectations on Jack's part, or all three rolled up together in a giant burrito of accidents waiting to happen. Don't get me wrong, I love Jack to death (neat trick, huh?), but he can't manage people worth a damn. Which is, of course, exactly why he needs to be on the TARDIS playing Lancer to somebody who has a knack for inspiring good behavior...

...anyway, just my take. I'd be interested in hearing others' opinions.
