Pairing: Jack/Ten (really though, it works for any incarnation)

Jack had suspected – or maybe hoped – but tried not to dwell on uncertainties. Today is different. Today he knows beyond a shadow of a doubt that the Doctor loves him.
His lover didn’t say as much. Jack hasn’t announced his love out loud either. By human standards - actually, by the standards of at least three-quarters of the species Jack has encountered - theirs is a highly unconventional relationship. (The Doctor hasn’t said much about Time Lord relationships, but from what he has said Jack gets the impression that Time Lord relationships were fairly sedate affairs.)
It was a simple thing which sent Jack’s heart soaring. The Doctor was having unusual difficulty deciding on a suitable place and time to visit. Jack ran out of suggestions. Finally, perplexed and somewhat annoyed, he said, “We don’t have to go anywhere.”
Normally he would have followed this with an amorous glance or suggestive quip, but he wasn’t thinking about sex because, honestly, he was already busy enough being perplexed and annoyed. Adding sexually frustrated to the mix didn’t seem like a good idea.
To his great surprise, the Doctor gave him a contented little smile. “Good point. I did promise I’d give your Tevellian dance music a chance.”
That’s how they ended up sitting together on a couch Jack doesn’t recognize. (He thinks maybe the TARDIS redecorated while the Doctor was rejecting places to visit.) They’re leaning on each other, enjoying the quiet time. Up until then, Jack had never associated his lover with quiet time.
All the wonders of the universe, and the last Time Lord wants to cuddle with him. This is love, Jack thinks, and he smiles. Life is so, so good.
