2010 Fest Prompt Post: Spoiler-free prompts

This is the spoiler-free prompt post for the 2010 Doctor/Jack Fest - these prompts contain no spoilers for series 5. All you need to do to join is pick a prompt and comment here to claim it.

If you're looking for prompts with spoilers for these episodes, go here instead.

You have until March 31st to write, vid or otherwise create your entry, and you can claim prompts right up until then. Don't worry: more than one person can use the same prompt, and you can claim more than one as well. Write or create as many entries as you like.

You can use more than one prompt for one entry, and you can combine prompts from both lists. The separate lists are just to make sure no one gets accidentally spoiled by looking at prompts.

There's no length or size requirement - from drabble to epic, from icons to wallpaper to painting, it's all good.

Please remember that this is a Doctor/Jack fest - some of the prompts may deal with events that didn't involve one or the other of them, or mention other pairings, but your story must focus on Jack and the Doctor. Other characters and pairings can play a role, of course.

No other restrictions, apart from common sense. (Which is to say - no character bashing, please!)

Once you're done, post your fic/artwork/vid/... to this community, or post it to your own journal/webspace and post a link on this community. Please include the following header info when you post to the comm:

Summary:

When you post your entry, make sure anything spoilery is hidden behind a cut, including any prompts from the spoileriffic list, and please tag your story with the "challenge: 2010 fest" tag and any other appropriate tags from the list. (You can find the full list of tags in the sidebar.)

Any more questions? Leave us a comment on the rules post. And if you're all set to go now, here are your spoiler-free prompts:

  • The Doctor had never been so embarrassed in all his life. (Nine/Jack; doesn't need to contain this exact sentence, just the idea.)

  • Jack annoys Nine and has to face the consequences.

  • Jack and Ten go speed dating; eventually Jack gets very jealous.

  • Face of Bo meets Eleven

  • What if Jack hadn't met the Ninth Doctor first? What if it had been another version of the Doctor turning up during The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances? (Any other Doctor, but earlier versions preferred. - Hell, what if it had been the First Doctor?)

  • What if the Doctor had come to Earth during Children of Earth?

  • During Blink, the Doctor and Martha are stuck in the 60s. What if they'd run into Jack?

  • Jack's going to live for a very long time. I'd like to see something where the Doctor runs into future!Jack in the far, far future.

  • There's no magic get-out-of-regeneration-free card - the Doctor does regenerate at the end of The Stolen Earth. What does that do to his relationship with Jack?

  • An AU in the style of the Star Trek Mirrorverse: Evil!Doctor and Evil!Jack, gleefully being evil together. :D (Bonus points for mixing in some hero!Master ...)

  • After Journey's End, the Doctor asks Jack to look out for Donna. But who's looking out for Jack? Well, the Doctor, of course.

  • Jack doesn't think much of monogamy. How does the Doctor feel about Jack's other lovers? How do they feel about the Doctor?

  • Why does the Doctor really keep disabling Jack's vortex manipulator?

  • Jack and the Doctor are travelling together, and they run into the Time Agency. I'd like the Agency to not be evil, please. *g*

  • What the Master taught Jack about the Doctor.

  • An oldie but goodie: How Jack got his TARDIS key.

  • More Nine era: Why the Doctor lets Jack work on his TARDIS. (And without supervision, too - see Boom Town!)

  • What if the Ninth Doctor had pushed that button on the Game Station?

  • For some timey-wimey reason, several of the Doctor's regenerations end up in one place. How do the earlier Doctors react to their future relationship with Jack?

  • While we're talking about multiple Doctors: A Nine/Jack/Ten sandwich, please. :D

  • Ten gets jealous of the TARDIS's infatuation with Jack. Perhaps its a ploy on the TARDIS's part to get Ten to admit his feelings for Jack (which he is trying hard to pretend don't exist). Perhaps she joins in with their 'fun'!

  • The Doctor meets Jack during his two missing years. Preferably Ten, but you could mix it up with an earlier Doctor for extra timey-wimey fun.

  • End of season 4 - Jack figures out Ten is dying, and finds a way to prevent that. (And I've always had a kink for jealous-and-posessive (to a disturbing agree)!Jack, so it would be swell it that was worked into the story as well) :-)

  • After a telepathic mishap of some kind, Jack gets stuck in the Doctor's very alien head. (Preferably not in a humorous context.)

  • Something with this song could be fun, if it hasn't been done a million times already.

  • The Doctor is drunk on a banana milkshake in a dirty bar of the "Bazaar planet" (sorry, can't remember the proper name. The one where they have been with Donna). Green colored, banana flavored milkshake, because the conditional "cows" of this planet are making their "milk" from some local grass, which makes Time Lords terribly, deliciously drunk and talk-talk-talk-a(c)tive!!! Any other circumstances- on the author's choice.

  • During the "slow death", shown us in the last episode, the Doctor telepathic abilities get out of control: he starts hearing thoughts of random people. And when he goes to Jack, and Jack looks up at him, he is hearing as clearly as if it was shouted right in his ear "I love you". Moments later Jack reads the note and the Doctor is startled with angry "I hate you". Make something out of this situation, but really, make it up for Jack. I'd like the Doctor to understand his mistake and to correct it. May be in his 11th form?

  • The Doctor tracks down all or part of Jack's missing memories. He finds out what is contained within them and has to decide whether to give them back or destroy them.

  • Fine whisky.

  • Jack and Ten having a conversation about death or dying, but I'd like to be more specific now: set post-CoE for Jack, and post-WoM for the Doctor, so he knows he's going to die soon. I'm a sucker for hurt/comfort, and also for happy endings, but I'm not going to insist on the latter *g*

  • A proper reunion of Jack, Rose, and the Doctor during Journey's End.

  • Jack/Ten - dirty talk, frottage, kink of your choice.

  • Ten, during his goodbyes, goes to see the Face die (from a distance), but stays longer, seeing him come back again as Jack. Somehow, Jack prevents the regeneration and goes off to travel with the Doctor. Bonus: Sex and telepathy.

  • While traveling with the Doctor, Jack is forced to face the consequences of something he did as a con man.

  • Jack pilots the TARDIS, with consequences.

  • On a bet, the Doctor borrows Jack's wristband vortex manipulator, and Jack borrows the sonic screwdriver.

  • Jack writes the Doctor a love letter, Harkness-style.

  • Jack/Doctor first kiss (after "The Parting of the Ways").

  • Jack/Doctor first kiss (before "The Parting of the Ways").

  • Jack models while the Doctor draws his picture.

  • Jack and the Doctor play a tactile blind man's bluff.

  • Jack meets the Fifth Doctor – years after he traveled with Nine and Ten. He doesn't want to cause a paradox, but he can't stay away either.

  • After WoM the Doctor feels he is a threat to the universe and asks Jack to lock him away.

  • Jack makes the Doctor talk about his family on Gallifrey, h/c ensues.

  • Jack manages to repair his Vortex Manipulator and pays the Doctor a surprise visit.

  • John Smith dreams of his life as the Doctor and has some very frisky dreams about Jack, he will NOT put down in his dream diary for fear of discovery.

  • On the run from the Master with Martha in Sound of Drums, Jack figures it is the perfect time, to get closer to the Doctor.

  • When in the Doctor reveals in an off-hand remark, that he has had male lovers in his long live time before Jack, the Captain shows his jealous/possessive side.

  • Native language. (Jack's.)

  • The Doctor is possessive of Jack and tries to hide it.

  • Jack's 51st century prejudices. He's gotta have some.

  • Jack loved the TARDIS first.

  • The Doctor [Ten] doesn't want to die. Jack does.

  • Jack, post COE, tracks down and confronts the Doctor about why he didn't come to save the day. The Doctor, immediately post WOM, is in a really bad place mentally to be having this conversation.

  • The Doctor (any) falls through the rift and lands in Cardiff, without the TARDIS. Bonus points if there is an adventure involved.

  • Ten and Jack swap coats.

  • Jack watches BBC's Casanova, and has a few things he'd like to ask the Doctor...

  • Jack watches GI Joe, and has a few things he'd like to ask the Doctor...

  • .Martha's wedding is a good place for reunions.

  • Martha's wedding is a good place for alien invasions.

  • While travelling the universe, The Doctor and Jack either meet A) Jenny, B) Romana or C) Susan.

  • AU. The Doctor and Jack set in high school or college.

  • What if Jack volunteered to be stuck with Handy/10.5?

  • 10/Jack After COE he sends him a note in a bar but he dosen't offer up Alonso...but himself!

  • 10/Jack 'one night only' the Doctor gives in to Jack for just one night!

  • 9/Jack 10/Jack and 11/Jack- 3 scenes with each Doctor and one where Jack gets him (up to the writer which one....).

  • 10/Jack WAR- they fall out and the rest of the universe has to pay...but the making up HAS to be good (my prompt, my kink...).

  • 10/Jack - my personal kink is H/C so the Doctor is ill and Jack nurses him back. Can be psychological if you want - just love in the sick room please!

  • Slutty!bottom!jack sexfic, perhaps some use of the sonic screwdriver too.

  • The Doctor and Jack end up in Camelot... but wasn't Camelot just a myth/story?

  • Jack and the Doctor go to the Olympics (your choice which one) and accidently mess with an important event and must fix time itself (or something along those lines).

  • After Journey's End, Jack convinces the Doctor to stick around Earth for a bit.

  • Re-telling of a fairy tale (i.e: Cinderella, Hansel & Gretel, Aladdin or Snow White).

  • The Doctor and Jack visit the 51st century, and they run into someone from Jack's past. This person can be a true friend who offers a new perspective on the Doctor and Jack's relationship, or a fair-weather friend who abandons Jack when he needs them most, showing Jack that his relationship with the Doctor is far more worthwhile.

  • Jack stumbles across Seven and Ace. Ace thinks he's handsome. The Doctor is annoyed, but secretly he thinks so, too. Jack knows he should avoid a paradox, but he's never been able to resist the Doctor in any form. Explosions ensue!

  • It's been a long time since Jack saw the Doctor, but now he has a TARDIS of his own, built from his coral, and the two timeships conspire to bring their occupants together again.

  • Jack saves Thirteen from dying permanently. Is Thirteen grateful for it?

  • Somewhere, somewhen, there is a house whose occupants seem to change all the time. Sometimes it is a very handsome man in a great coat. Sometimes, it's a man in a bowtie (sometimes accompanied by a woman, sometimes not). Sometimes there's a mysterious blue box with strange lettering in the front yard. And sometimes it stands empty for years at a time, until the ivy starts to encroach. The Doctor and Jack do domestic in their own ways.

  • The Doctor and Jack have to meet up at a specific time to avoid a catastrophe, but one of them is running late. Which one, and why? What ensues if they don't get together?

  • Volcano day is SO much better than Vegas.

  • "I've told you time and time again, Jack. No, you CAN'T keep it."

  • Puppy. (Eyes? Actual? Mentality?)

  • Three times Jack or the Doctor (writer's choice) doesn't know it's the Doctor/Jack (Again, writer's choice) he's run into, one he did. Only one remembered. (But which one?)

  • "Jack, what makes you think they'd EVER believe I was YOUR slave?"
"The term you're looking for is consort."

  • The real reason the sight of Jack makes the Doctor queasy. (Classic doc? Nine? Ten? Future?)

  • The Doctor and Jack as seen through an outsider's eyes. (By outsider, I mean an OC or minor DW/Torchwood character, not somebody like Rose or a member of Jack's Torchwood team.)

  • The Doctor and Jack have to escape a Vogon poetry reading. (HHGTG crossover!)

  • Eight/Jack. I don't care how you make this one happen; I just want the pretty. Perhaps Jack's fixed point status is necessary to anchor the time lock around the War or something like that.

  • "We can all have a good flirt later."
    "Is that a promise, Doctor?"
"Fifty-seven academics just punched the air!"

The Doctor decides that WAS a promise to Shakespeare, but instead of Martha (or in addition to her) he brings Jack along.

  • The Doctor and Jack in a place/time with knights in armor, fire-breathing dragons, etc.

  • The first time, for the last time.

  • The Ninth Doctor looks up the real Captain Jack Harkness.

  • Five Times Jack Harkness Phoned the Doctor For Help (and One Time He Didn't Have To.)

  • Jack/Eleven. First time with 11. Anyway you want to interpret it.

  • Jack is pregnant with the Doctor's baby (any version Doctor, but Five or Nine would be great!) when they get captured by aliens who want Jack for whatever reason. The Doctor fights for his family.

  • Jack's thoughts on each of the Doctor's incarnations. Ignore timelines, find a way for the timelines to work, maybe Jack only observes, doesn't meet each Doctor, whatever, but getting some slash in would be excellent.

  • Conversely, what does each Doctor think of Jack? (Before he's immortal or after he's immortal for each incarnation, whichever.)

  • In Jack's native culture rape is pretty much the ultimate crime, worse than torture or murder. Either the Doctor has to help Jack after Jack's been raped or Jack has to help the Doctor after the Doctor has been.

  • Rose doesn't really understand that Jack's from a completely different culture and just keeps making mistakes about what Jack says/does. But the Doctor understands.

  • While traveling with the Doctor and Rose, Jack is raped and gets pregnant. He keeps the baby. The Doctor helps him through it.

  • According to Time Lord traditions, Jack's immortality is "wrong." But, then again, the Doctor has never been a traditional Time Lord. How does he get over his "prejudice" in order to get it on with Jack? (Bonus for exploration of Time Lord culture, as well as slash.)

  • Jack's missing memories include the Time War as the Doctor's lover. Eight or Nine author's choice

  • Jack and the Doctor get captured and forced to admit their hidden feelings in the midst of very public sex. Telepathy would be welcome, but not required.

  • Post Torchwood season 2. Jack is more broken than anyone realizes. The Doctor shows up (because he was called or some other reason) and tries to help. But Jack is angry and hurt and doesn't quite believe that the Doctor really cares. The Doctor has to really grovel to get through to him.

  • Jack and the Doctor - they're both each other's safe haven, but also their biggest vulnerability.

  • Post-COE Jack and Eleven: relearning the joy of running for one's life.

  • Ceci n'est pas une pipe.

  • I go back to the house for a book....
    - entire poem, by Billy Collins
  • "I couldn't change the world, I knew that. But I could fix little pieces of it."
    -Monk

  • "I have a hard time with morals. All I know is what feels right, what's more important to me is being honest about who you are. Morals I get a little hung up on."
    -Brad Pitt

  • “If I were two-faced, would I be wearing this one?”
    -Abraham Lincoln

  • “Sometimes, it's the boring stuff I remember the most.”
    -Up

  • "The knack of flying is learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss."
    -Douglas Adams

  • “If I ever meet myself I will hit myself so hard I won’t know what hit me!”
-The Resturant at the End of the Universe by Douglas Adams

  • "I wished I could feel numb again, but I couldn’t remember how I’d managed it before."
    -New Moon by Stephenie Meyer

  • "If it isn't the great and terrible blah blah blah himself."
    -Tin Man

  • "I reject your reality and substitute my own."
    -Adam Savage, MythBusters

  • "Will you at least admit that a nuclear explosion is awesome?"
    -The Colbert Report

  • "If you want a place in the sun, you've got to put up with a few blisters."
    -Abigail Van Buren

  • Jack/Nine and Jack/Ten vid to "Oh L'amour" by Erasure. It was one of the first hit songs about male/male love, and has so many possibilities for unrequited!Jack/Doctor, including TARDIS travel ("You said I wasn't your kind,/Only here for the ride") and Jack's repeated deaths ("I lay down and die,/I'm only to blame"). Full lyrics here, and the original video here.
