Well, and especially coming from Jack, who has been through the wringer multiple times thanks to the Doc, but manages to keep his trust/affection/faith in the Doctor intact
Except that it seems to me that, by this time in this 'verse, Jack's got over all that. They survived the Year together, and they're now established lovers without even the need for artificial stimulants, which does suggest a degree of closeness and connection I'd suspect neither of them has had with anyone else before.
This, and a comment you made to someone on the Spoon about there being lots of Holy Grail to go around once Rose reunites, makes me think: how's she going to react to the fact that not only have the Doctor and Jack been lovers in her absence but they're also able to do it without help? Whereas she and the Doctor will need help. There's going to be a really interesting dynamic on board the TARDIS once all three of them are together again :)
