First off, I'm a fan of other works I've read of yours. (Yes, I'm one of those greedy lurkers who just reap the benefits of good fics without reviewing - but I'm atoning my ways.)
I've been meaning to review this story for awhile, but I just haven't been able to find the right to words to describe it. It's defiantly one that I just had to sit back and be quiet after reading.
This piece really made me contemplate how much time could possibly warp Jack, how jaded and desensitized he could become - how time could erode his mind - you made his psyche in this story plausible and frightening. And some of the lines! “How does it feel to know what will happen and being unable to stop it?” Shivers down my spine.
A powerful and wonderful piece of writing. I love angsty fics [especially Jack and the Doctor - Their angst can last centuries!] and the occasionally brutally dark fic, which you nailed; especially at the end with Jack just trying to win back the Doctor's forgiveness that he will never receive.
