After recently indulging myself with a weekend of Classic Who (god I love these DVD releases), I found myself looking at the differences between how the Doctor treated his male companions then and how he seems to treat them now, and I just had to include it in the fic.
As for the bonding through Rose...that scene just stuck out in Utopia for me. One minute they're snarking, then they're hugging, then they're snarking? Definitely something going on there!
