Everything the other comments are saying, basically. Beautiful, lyrical... I love the way you brought out Jack's love for everyone... and the first section has a surreal quality befitting the mashed-up timelines in which it takes place. And the description of Jack as a kicked dog that still wants to be pet is simply the perfect metaphor, in my opinion. Well done.
