POLL: Turn Winter Companions into a challenge comm?

Hello everyone! The Ten/Jack fest went so incredibly well (seriously - 58 entries! I'm still stunned!) that we're really sad it's over now. It was such great fun, thanks to everyone who participated, that we'd really love to continue this community in some fashion.

If there's enough interest, we'd like to turn Winter Companions into a challenge community.

What we have in mind is something along the lines of sga_flashfic or ds_flashfiction, if you're familiar with one of those comms, only geared towards Doctor/Jack. (You can check here if you're curious about the kinds of challenge they do.) New challenge topics would be posted at regular intervals, and you'd have a set period of time to write, vid or create your entry.

An idea for a challenge....

Have a look at how the Doctor feels now about knowing Jack is/will be the face of Boe (or even show it isn't true...) and on the first time they get together.

1) does he tell him?

2) doesn't tell him but things get really strnage between them?

then how does Jack react to either of these and is thier a third option were he debunks the whole thing and they run off together....

Thanks for your suggestion! We're most likely going to be looking for more general challenge topics, though, along the lines of the sga_flashfic challenges - we want something that'll get as many people as possible playing, and specific prompts are very narrow after all. Any ideas for something more general?

I might not be able to contribute *regularly*, but I would/will if I had/have time.

Maybe, if there's need, some of the leftover prompts from the original contest could be brought in as challenges -- there were a lot of interesting ideas, I thought, and not all of them were heavily utilized.

Yay! I doubt if anyone will be able to contribute all the time, but every now and then is more than enough!

And good idea about the leftovers! Maybe not to start with, but it's definitely something to keep in mind for later.

Hello really new to this fandom, haven't even read all the stories yet. But I am so in love!!
I did notice the the lack of AU fic(or maybe I haven't got to yet?) which is surprising in a sci-fi fandom...you have time travel and aliens..... anything can happen and anything can change!

SO maybe a "AU" anything goes challenge??
Ummm ie.... Gallifrey was never destroyed...or was brought back (in some very thought provoking plot building way=), how would the doctor and Jack cross paths then?
or let's see, Jack evolves and becomes something else or close to a time Lord type of thing...
Hmmm the characters, have adventures in different environments and on other planets, meet new cultures...etc

also , Epic fic? Really would love to read some nice long epics.=)(who wouldn't right?) An Epic fic challenge?
two to three authors or more are paired to write the ultimate epic fic?
They are given or can choose prompts and have(4?)several months to produce a story?...ha I like this idea! 2 minds are better than one, think of all the creative juices flowing...*dreams*

Hmmm, challenges:

* going domestic.

* stranded somewhere. in time, in space. on Earth, on a road, in a café. On an uninhabited island.

* memory loss

* pleasure cruise

* everyone needs a vacation once every couple of hundred years

* the restaurant at the end of the universe

* parallel worlds (not AUs but really crossing over into another universe, or having people from it cross over, or universes colliding and blurring into each other)

* bound to each other (mentally, spiritually or physically, etc.)

Just throwing out some ideas.

Ideas for a challenge:

* The Doctor and Jack end up trapped in an enclosed space with no sonic screwdriver, no TARDIS, and no Vortex Manipulator - how do they get there, what do they do while they're there, and how the heck do they get out?

* The Doctor has managed to get Jack back on board the TARDIS, but Jack has a secret. What is it, and how does the Doctor find out?

* The TARDIS realises she's in love with Jack - what does she do, and how does the Doctor end up in the mix/mess?

* Jack gets his Vortex Manipulator going and on his first trip runs into the Doctor

* Jack and the Doctor find themselves in a very, very awkward situation

* The Doctor decides its about time he wrote a novel, and in a moment of brilliance appoints Jack as his sounding board/editor... only he forgets to ask or tell Jack

* One of them stalks the other. Literally. What happens when the other realises?

* An enemy uses Jack and the Doctor against each other to get what they want

* One of them gets an education

* "My motivation for living right now is..."

* The hand. There's got to be more to it

* Jack discovers that after the Doctor's tinkering with his Vortex Manipulator, there's a sequence that can run the TARDIS by remote. What does he do?

* One of them writes a letter to the other about the events of "the year that never was..."

* An epiphany

* Events pit the Doctor and Jack against each other

* The Doctor if forced into a tight situation where he has to make the decision - but can he let Jack die? (or vice versa)

* The Doctor gives Jack a crash course of flying the TARDIS solo


I think that will do for now. I'll add more if I come up with them.
