I like this very much. Your words give me such a strong picture of that meadow, the melancholy Doctor, and the images Jack is picking up that are overlaid all. I can also well see how the Doctor feels the telepathic communication is more intimate (in a way) than Jack's kiss, but then I'm glad he decides to accept the intimacy of the kiss and return it.

I'm not a Jack/Doctor shipper in particular, but fics like yours nudge me into appreciating what this two have to offer each other. Thank you!
